Lemtrans acted as a partner of the Ukrainian Infrastructure Forum '18 in Kyiv on April 19, 2018. Traditionally, the participants of the forum were waiting for a rich business program, including strategic sessions and discussions, the topics of which reflect the most pressing issues of infrastructure development.

During the event, the representatives of the government and business, leading experts and international investors discussed possible ways of developing the industry in the face of scarcity of funds, promising mechanisms and models of financing infrastructure development, as well as openness of the market itself.

The General Manager of Lemtrans Vladimir Mezentsev, speaking at the key session devoted to the railway transport of Ukraine, noted the successful European experience of public-private partnership in implementing a number of projects in the infrastructure. He also spoke about the necessity of adopting appropriate legislative regulation in the country, defining the mechanism and conditions of public-private partnership. In other words, the need to create a clear and transparent program that eliminates the risks of potential investors, ready to implement projects of national significance.

During the speeches, experts, among which were the representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ukrzaliznytsia, PJSC, EBRD, General Electric, etc., agreed that the key problem of the market for today is the shortage of traction rolling stock. In order to eliminate problems with traction, the country needs a comprehensive program for updating and restoring. "If we follow the logic of reform, a clear answer must be given to the question of the liberalization of the traction market. Ukrzaliznytsia needs to open markets more quickly for private investors. It should be understood that the emergence of private traction today is not an end in itself, but only means of improving the transportation process. After all, each unloaded ton of cargo is the loss of railways, shippers, operators and the loss of the economy of Ukraine. "
