Lemtrans reviews its modernisation programme at two rented railcar repair plants with UAH 10.1m invested in 2013.

Lemtrans bought 50 pieces of modern facilities for the railcar repair plants

Highlights in 2013 include:

  • full upgrade of automated check-point at the railcar repair plant in Volnovakha (Donetsk Oblast)
  • established area for repair of worn-out parts in the wheel and roller department (railcar repair plant in Volnovakha, Donetsk Oblast)
  • installed Ukraine's first special miller for automated coupling (railcar repair plant in Volnovakha, Donetsk Oblast)
  • launched automated facility that selects and controls parts of axle equipment (railcar repair plant in Volnovakha, Donetsk Oblast)
  • installed test bed to check braking systems of freight cars after repair (railcar repair plant in Volnovakha, Donetsk Oblast)
  • launched automated facility that selects parts for bearings (railcar repair plant in Dneprodzerzhynsk, Dnepropetrovsk Oblast).

Lemtrans CEO Vladimir Mezentsev says the company looks to make production more efficient and improve the quality of rolling stock repairs. "Not only do we replace old equipment with new facilities but we are also upgrading the entire production chain. The programme raised our production performance, reduced energy use and cost of repairs and made rail traffic safer," he said.
