The volume of cargo transportation LLC Lemtrans, the largest private transportation and forwarding company in Ukraine, in January-June 2011 amounted to 17.8 mln tons, an increase of 18% over the same period last year. Average daily loading - more than 83 thousand tons, that is 17.4% to the indicator of last year.
Traditionally, the main type of cargo transported by the company is coal. Thus, over 6 months, about 7.3 million tons were shipped, an increase of 15.1% compared to January-June 2010. The volume of transportation of iron ore and ferrous metals also increased significantly: from 3.6 million tons in 2010 to more than 5.8 million tons in 2011 (+ 61.7 percent) and from 1.1 to 1.4 million tons (+ 25.5%), respectively.
According to the General Manager of LLC Lemtrans Vladimir Mezentsev, the growth of loading volumes became possible, including, by expanding the fleet of rolling stock operated by the company. "Since the beginning of the year, we have purchased 500 new gondola cars, which could not but affect the volumes of cargo transportation. In addition, we are actively working on creating cost effective logistics schemes that help to reduce the idle mileage and optimize the use of the park ", - said Vladimir Mezentsev.
