On July 6-10, 2011, the 7th International Scientific and Technical Conference "The Rolling Structure of the XXI Century (Ideas, Requirements, Projects)" was held in Saint-Petersburg, devoted to the issues of upgrading and modernizing the rolling stock of railways.

The participants of the conference discussed the issues of creating a new generation rolling stock, the key directions of the innovative development of the industry, as well as the course of reforms in the railway sector as a whole. The conference was held in the form of a plenary meeting and three sections: "Freight rolling stock", "Passenger rolling stock", "Dynamics and durability of rolling stock".

This year, the event gathered more than 130 specialists from Russia, the CIS and the Baltic States, Germany, Poland, Finland, the Czech Republic and other countries. The organizers of the conference were the Ministry of Railways of the Russian Federation, the St. Petersburg State University of Railways, the Research and Development Center "Wagons".

The Company was represented at the Conference by Deputy Director General for Transportation Mikhail Uvarov.

"It's no secret that at the moment Ukraine feels a sharp shortage of rolling stock of the railroad. The reasons for this state of affairs are, among other things, the lack of integrated scientific developments and the low efficiency of innovation programs. We, as the owner of the largest rolling stock fleet in Ukraine, are undoubtedly interested not only in its renewal, but also in the introduction of progressive technologies for the construction and repair of the car park. The conference, held in St. Petersburg, allowed its participant not only to present their own developments, but also to discuss the future of railway engineering in general ", - said Mr. Uvarov.
