The Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Centre has delivered 1,027,700 food sets for the residents of Donetsk and Lugansk oblasts. Nine convoys brought over 10,000 tonnes of food to 57 towns and districts of Donbass from 22 August to 12 November. Several thousand people – employees of Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, SCM Group’s assets and volunteers – helped to organize the deliveries and distribute the aid.
Natalia Yemchenko, SCM Director of Public Relations and Communications and a volunteer of the Humanitarian Centre: “These are food sets for 700,000 families, some of them could get the humanitarian aid twice. Each set contains food for one family to live on for 15-16 days. That’s good but still not enough considering the number of people staying in the ATO area in the face of the humanitarian catastrophe. For this reason, following the decision of Rinat Akhmetov, we continue to help and increase the breadth and scope of the humanitarian aid.”
According to the Humanitarian Centre, five more humanitarian aid convoys carrying a million food sets for the most vulnerable residents of Donbass are scheduled by the year end. The humanitarian needs map shows that 40 percent of residents of Donetsk and Lugansk oblasts are in urgent need for food.
