First echelon of Rinat Akhmetov’s humanitarian aid drive to arrive in Mariupol tonight
On 22 August, the first echelon of Rinat Akhmetov’s humanitarian aid drive has departed from Dnepropetrovsk to Mariupol carrying assistance to Donetsk and Lugansk oblasts. Yesterday, the representatives of the Main Department of Ukraine’s Emergency Ministry in Dnepropetrovsk oblast and the UNHCR office examined the humanitarian freight including over 2,000 tonnes of groceries, baby food and hygiene products.

Today the citizens of Mariupol wanted to organize a peace march. As I was told, more than 50,000 people were going to be a part of it. And that is in Mariupol alone, while across all of Donbass there are millions ready to join in.
Today the situation in Donbass is extremely difficult. The region has been gripped by fear. People are closing stores and offices and leaving cities. People are being shot and killed in streets.
Lemtrans transports 14.6m tonnes of freight
In Q1 2014, Lemtrans has transported 14.6m tonnes of freight.In particular, coal transportation grew 37% to 8.85m tonnes making over 60% of the total freight handled.
Lemtrans buys 500 new open railway cars
Lemtrans has bought 500 new open cars since the beginning of 2014. Every year the company buys new wagons under its modernisation programme. Over 2010-2013 Lemtrans purchased around 3,900 new open railway cars with plans to buy also 2,500 by the end of 2014 under its investment programme.
